Talk: Syrinx:  Muse with a Voice

Drue Kataoka (www.Drue.net), Artist and Flutist, is based in Palo Alto.  She is a recipient of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Research & Education Institute Award.  In 2001, Drue endowed the Drue Kataoka Rotary Arts Scholarship. Drue’s commissioned art includes: a painting for the first Zero Gravity art exhibition at the International Space Station; album cover art and jazz portraits for Wynton Marsalis; multiple collaborations with winemakers including original labels for Au Bon Climat for HRH Princess Takamado, Chicago Lyric Opera and Chef Roy Yamaguchi.  Her clients range from fortune 500 CEOs to private individuals and families.  Her charitable work includes fundraising with her art for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the Koret Foundation, the Legal Aid Society, & Stanford University minority Scholarships. Her art has been covered by CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC affiliates, & in print by San Jose Mercury News, San Francisco Chronicle and others.  In January 2011, Drue will speak and present her art at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
